#361 – so hey

Wait... is Hanna drinking a beer at breakfast? Was this a deliberate choice? My brain is fried, I don't remember. The big reveal here went over very well. People asked for years if I was going to bring Victor back. To what end, my friends? Of course we miss him. But if we equate happiness with longing itself, he gave us so much.

  1. I picked up this comic well after this arc, but I nonetheless do remember this reveal, much better than I remembered most of the other old arcs we've blown through recaps of.

I remember not thinking he was any particular person's friend but thinking they had all met him recently and decided to hang out because of how cool he seemed. This revelation itself may have been slightly less shocking to me than some others, but you just wrote the reveal so well that I couldn't help but find it hilarious.

  2. i like victor. hes more an entity that comes in and out of the house, like a kind life crasher.

  3. Cashmere poncho from Hanna? From Marigold the knitter, sure, but Hanna?

  4. Wait, isn't this Victor in panel 1 at the final party (or do we just see what we want to see)? http://www.octopuspie.com/2017-03-17/992-994-the-

    1. omg i want to believe. totally him!

  5. I think when I read this story originally I just interpreted Hannah's drink as the kind of glass bottle soda pop you could often get in a diner like this. I also unconsciously decided it was orange cream.

  6. I absolutely love the concept of Victor, the magic hipster. Great character haha

  7. If you think about it, it has to take a creepy level of surveillance to pull off this gag. To do a Victor you'd have to study your roommate group beforehand to establish what relationships they have with each other, and track their schedules to make sure you get each of them alone as much as possible.

Not that I'm saying we have to think about it. 🙂
