#393 – knew a thing

I've been up to my ears in work getting ready for SPX! I look a lot like Eve in panel 5. But it'll be so totally worth it. Back to the drawing board!

  1. That "really fucking tired" panel speaks to me! lol wow that's sad (on my part) and I think the first time that's ever happened to me. But that is exactly how I feel right now…. though I would personally replace coffee with soda. Ugh the hatred of this feeling fuels my ability to function. boo! the art's not available… double 🙁

I almost wanna say that an even more exaggerated version of that panel minus the background would be an awesome t-shirt or wallpaper or something…

  2. i really love eve's hair. 😀

    1. I'm going to agree!

  3. Poor Eve. She'd get more sleep if she wasn't secretly Spiderwoman.

  4. I will always root for Will'n'Eve.

    1. HOLLAAAAA

    2. The Prolific Mr. Ano

      Is this Wieve? Or Evill?

      I'm still shippin' it.

      1. Ooh Evill, I enjoy that muchly.

    3. I love them more than any sane person reasonably should.

  5. Oh, Will and Eve…

  6. "Running on coffee and hatred." Why do I feel like Eve at the moment? Is it because it's four and I have to get up at seven? Probably.

  7. Mmmm, If I can't have Will at least Eve should!! C'mon man!

  8. You haven't a clue how much I wish Will and Eve would work out. ):

  9. Is it just me, or have all the female characters gotten 50% cuter since the new story lines started getting posted.

    1. It's not just the girls, friend. If you step back and take it all in, you will see that all of the characters have been getting steadily cuter since day one. It's the Southworth Effect; it mostly affects episodic strips with an ensemble cast. For a similar progession, check out Gastrophobia.

That said, Larry is already not far removed from a dachshund in a sweater, so it's not just long-time characters. I think it's the entire universe.

      1. The Southworth Effect? I thought Ugly Hill's art was pretty consistent throughout its run- Hastings Kilgore was the only character to undergo a real design change.

  10. Great strip but the alt text really did it for me.

  11. love wills face in the last panel. <3

  12. Jeez, Hanna, don't poke out his eye.

  13. Aww this strip really warms my cynical, bitter heart 🙂

  14. For the sake of my mental health, I really need to stop crushing on Marigold.

  15. Long live WEVE! Like… Will and Eve…

You know, celebrity couple names don't work too well with this comic.

  16. Coffee and hatred is going to be my new fad diet.

  17. I just want to give a "thanks" from this fan who is glad you're back to doing regular updates – waiting for months at a time was difficult and ya, I know the comics are free and I shouldn't complain – which is why I didn't, but seriously – It's good to have a regular slice of Octopus Pie

  18. i too get excited when i discover that i knew a thing

  19. Aww, panel one Eve is adorable!

  20. Aw, do I sense something brew'n between Will and Eve?

  21. Okay I can't even deal with how adorable the art is becoming. Eve and Hannah in the first panel, plus Marigold in the last… can we nominate you for best art style ever?

  22. Is it just me, or is Hannah going to shank this guy in, like, negative five minutes if he does not get his wallet-unbalanced ass out of her kitchen before her muffins cool.

That slasher smile is about to bisect her head.

  23. Looks Evill is gearing up for another round of adorable dyfunctionality.

  24. GET TOGETHER ALREADY EVE AND WILL!!!

  25. Calling it now, Larry hits on Eve and ruins his friendship with Will.

  26. Calling this: Meredith leaves Will for Larry, because he'll appreciate her, whereas Will is kind of takes her for granted, thus driving somewhat of a wedge between Larry and Will but simultaneously allowing Will and Eve to get together, which they will eventually. This relationship will be long and serious but will probably end, though not before the televised cartoon adaptation of Octopus Pie warms our hearts and makes us feel hip in retrospect for being into it when it was a comic. Getting warm?

  27. Oops- uh, that thing I said except “Meredith” should be “Marigold.” Sorry Meredith!

  28. I’m back to reading this thing! I stopped when things went all bunches at a time, for whatever reason I never felt up to more than just my ten minute update on all the comics I read. I thought at the time that it was a cool idea, but totally didn’t follow up.

  29. Will’s face in the last panel is basically the most relatable facial expression that has ever been drawn.

  30. Hey, Larry's pretty cute.

  31. the ART of baking. ART. museum.
    that's pretty snarky, hanna.

  32. Aaaaah, I'm loving Will's nearly shaggy hair in this!!
