I'm gonna quote the original commentary for this one, because it's something I'd forgotten:
"I had a lot of fun drawing this page. For reference I looked at a bunch of incredibly painful skater wipeout videos. Oh those poor guys. They suffer for our collective, indirect entertainment."
I definitely imagined the panel border would have some sinew to it, or be something like metal objects in roadrunner cartoons. The splash printed on its own as a 2-page spread.

I love the last panel, it's basically the dinosaurs witnessing the moment of impact of the Chicxulub meteorite that would wipe them all out (except the birds).
