#293 – sup

Happy Memorial Day! If you're in the US I hope you'll find time to enjoy the summer and cook outdoors. And of course, honor the sacrifices of our soldiers and their families. We are Americans and those are two things we're pretty darn good at.

  1. That kid is the best bit character I've seen in a while. Look at how he sizes Will up and determines that HE is in fact, the Alpha. Protector of his kingdom.

  2. The man on the right looks like a magical muppet you'd never want to meet.

    1. He reminds me of Dr. Teeth (& The Electric Mayhem).

    2. Or would ALWAYS want to meet.

    3. … OH GOD… it's CRAZY HARRY …. AHHHHHHHHHHHH

  3. Americans are also good at throwing people off their porches. Or their non-existent apartment porches. That kid sure knows how to get rid of dealers.

And for some reason, I can't read the alt text without setting it to Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising". I don't know if that is incredibly clever, or I am just incredibly insane.

    1. If you're insane, I am too. I had exactly the same reaction.

      1. Me too! I checked the comments just to see if anyone else thought the same thing.

        1. I think it might have to do with the mondegreen of "There's a bad moon on the rise/There's a bathroom on the right." In any case, Creedence is great.

  4. What Will has to do to earn a buck…

  5. C. Augusto Vald&eacu

He's just a regular guy who does things considered illegal. He knows what he chose and is well aware of the consequences. If he ever wanted out he would have done so already. Great characterization… Someone said the central theme of Octopus Pie is abandoning the dreams of power and fame from your adolescence. Growing up. Great stuff…

  6. Hah, that kid (boy, girl? who can tell!) is awesome! You seriously need more kids, they're perfect for awesome backhanded compliments and tearing people new ones – and that guy on the right terrifies me.

  7. panel 3 man that kid is adorable

  8. Having just watched West Side Story, that kid looks like Anybodys, freckles and all …

  9. I don't know who to be more proud of, Will or the kid.

….ehhhh, I'll be proud of the kid =)

    another awesome strip.

  10. Does anyone else see Hannah in that kid?

  11. i have absolutely no idea what's going on here

    1. he has gone for a scheduled delivery of his goods. when a kid answers the door he has second thoughts about selling to someone so young. the kid sizes him up, overhears him talking to himself..and thinks he's door-to-door soliciting and slams the door in his face. turns out will went to the wrong address, as is shown by the weird guy next door opening the door up to him welcomingly. does that about sum it up for you?

  12. The kid looks a little like Will to me…

  13. If that kid turned out to be Hannah's brother I would not be surprised in the least.

    1. if it is he probably has his own weed connect.

  14. Or mabe someone gave him the wrong address? That neighbour certainly looks happy to see him.

  15. For those who are also fans of Overcompensating, that kid looks like a young Weedmaster P, not sure if it's a coincidence or not.

  16. I just noticed the 'UPS' note in the first panel… Perhaps number 302 is in the habit of writing his '3's like '2's – just in case he ever looks out that peephole and sees a delivery guy with an NYPD escort =)

  17. Holy bongwater Batman!! I just realized: Will has qualms about selling weed to minors.

This MEANS something! This is IMPORTANT!!!

  18. Oh no! I just started reading this today and now I'm at that point where I have to wait for updates. Impatient already, awesome story!

  19. The kid looks a little like Will to me…

  20. Well how about that. I didn't know you were doing comics again! You've improved a whole hell of a lot since the old days. Okay, so that was only like, 4 years ago. (AN ETERNITY) But nonetheless, I really like your new stuff.

  21. is the alt-text a reference to 'bad moon rising'?

    if so, i lol'd. 😀
