Have I talked about the genesis of Eve's mom's politics in these comments yet? I was really slow building this idea that Eve's mother had become a (divorced) neocon after 9/11. This was sort of a popular idea in mainstream pop/news culture in the 2000s. Dennis Miller famously made this claim when he decided to pivot into shitty conservative comedy. I'm not sure I ever believed it was a real thing that happened, much like the broader phenomenon of aging into conservatism. I just thought it was a super funny past motivation for a fictional character to have.
