#043 – subversive post-irony

Takeru Kobayashi was a folk hero of Coney Island in the early-00s, when he won six consecutive Nathan's Hot Dog eating contests and set new world records for competitive eating. He's since been (perhaps, permanently) bested by Joey Chestnut, who continues to take the record every year. All human achievements build on one another, though; Kobayashi still has my heart.

    1. Ah yes, the no-win scenario where a Starfleet captain must best a Klingon squadron in a hot dog eating contest.

  3. I thought usual suspects. Well there you go…

  4. I had the official Octopus Pie Kobayashi t-shirt, but I can’t find it now. Please put it back in the store! 🙂
