    Hanna

  2. lol nobody looking at their phone, EVERYBODY looking at their phone. tru 2 life

    1. It's a step up from the 90s when everyone sort of just awkwardly watched their feet.
      Scanning the top of heads.
      Intensely concentrating at ads.
Oh, wow, brighter teeth in three weeks? This is definitely worth examining in detail for the next forty-five minutes.

      1. Early 2000s in some cities when subways didn't have cell network until 2003 or so.

      2. Or sleeping. Wait. I still sleep on buses and subways even when I DO have my phone.

  3. My guess is she's going to visit a family member that lives in some sort of assisted living home that we haven't met yet. Secrets to be revealed 🙂

  4. Did everyone get a text at the same time? 😮

    1. Look at the window of the car!

    2. I'm thinking in the 3rd panel they are in a tunnel or some sort (the view outside the window is black) hence no reception; in the 4th panel might be out of the tunnel where there's reception (view outside the window turns bright)
      Just my guess tho.

      1. Silly Noo Yakahs have no in-tunnel reception! 😛

  5. 372 floors?! This building must go in to space!!!

    1. Looks like Hannah's gonna be getting pretty high today after all…

    2. Empire state building has 102 floors. The not yet finished Freedom Tower will have 104 floors. So where the hell is she?

      1. Well, although realistic most of the time, this comic does occasionally make a turn into the fantastic (the international barista conspiracy, etc.), so I have no trouble imagining that in Hanna's version of NY they have a Frank R. Paul Ridiculously Huge Building neighborhood.

Or, as someone else said, it could be the weed kicking in.

  6. Dead pandas is going to be my punk band.

  7. Haha, wow, I just noticed everyone checking their phones at the same time in panel four.

    1. Tunnels maan

  8. …it can take a while to kick in, Hanna…

  9. That's like, two Burj Dubais. What sort of buildings have you been putting up since I last checked, New York?

  10. That might be the grimmest line to open a webcomic ever.

    "This panda is dead anyway."

  11. I love that even the small child has a mobile phone. Modern times.

  12. I posit that things will get progressively weirder and weirder until we as readers realize that Hannah is still at home on the couch and none of this happened.

It takes a while to kick in.

  13. "Have your I.D. out, because all I hand out are these little pieces of paper that have 'GUEST' written on them, and really anybody could copy those. They're not part of our security procedures; I just hand them out to people so that everybody knows their place."

  14. I would love to have this page hung in my room.

  15. Jokes like the cell phone gag are why I love Octopus Pie!

  16. So true, see, a chime sounds and everybody checks his/her cellphone, then to avoid the silliness they stare at it or play a game just because.

  17. The thing is the subway. No signal inside but when you leave the tunnel, Yay, signal. That why it is dark in one panel and light in the other.

  18. That 3rd and 4th panel, first they all look grumpy, then they all look grumpy and look at their phones lol
