guest comic – steve wolfhard

Y'all best believe Steve Wolfhard makes the best (the best) comics. He recently did a fantastic one-off, Cat Rackham and the Comforts of Life, on his art blog. You are in for delights! Good news - I've arrived safely in Portland, OR after an 8-day road trip! Everything is peachy. I think it's safe to say the comic (by me) will resume Monday. Hope you liked these fill-ins as much as I did.

  1. This is absolutely, terrifyingly, genius.

  2. Welcome to Portland!

  3. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

  4. Hey, is that McPedro making a sneak guest appearance in this guest strip? Wild.

  5. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for introducing me to one of my new favorite cartoonists. Jeremy the Squirrel breaks my heart.

  6. My goodness! May I recommend Spella downtown at 9th and Washington? You have never had a better cup of coffee in your life.

  7. I'm gonna go ahead and say it: all previous guest comics pale in comparison to this. This is the untold tale of Octopus Pie that demanded telling.

  8. Oh man…Monstro's on my friend list, but this is on the next level of strangeness. What a way to start your day (both Hannah and me)!

  9. In the last panel Hanna has this little smile on her face that says it all…

  10. Wow… That is just brilliant, I love the shading with grays.

  11. Ah, Octopus Pie – I so enjoy everybody's recipes and cooking.

A good dish, no matter the cook, it would seem.

Meant to ask – would Eve ever have seen octopus pie in the prepared foods section of Ollie's Organix?

Glad you're "home" safe. Best wishes for grooving with Portland, MG.

  12. I always suspected Marek had the powers of the third eye.

Everybody! Come join the Kulasenski Train to Enlightenment! WOOOO!

  13. steve's awesome. i just got into portland too, woo!

  14. Crap, thats a long drive! Hope the new locale is just as good if not better than the last!

  15. That was quite odd. But I like it, I just can't pick why

  16. Welcome to stumptown! 🙂 I know how good it felt when I drove here cross country… sweet west coast relief…

  17. I love how he made sure to show a tiny bit of gold in the last panel, to ensure that we didn't think Hannah was sleeping the whole time.

  18. What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu*k.

  19. I feel a desperate need to run away screaming.

  20. N'guh. Wow.

  21. I only have one word to describe how awesome this strip is: Pow.

  22. multnomah county bike fair is tomorrow, starts at 230, at SE 20th and belmont. you know, if you're into bikes.

  23. I was just in Portland! It's so nifty… and the home of many of our tooning brethren (I am a cartoonist, too). In fact, my comic strip, Squid Row is featuring Portland this week! Small world. Anyhow, hope the moving in goes well.

  24. Oh Hannah. Stoned in the middle of the night? For shame.

  25. ????

    1. Whoops, special characters fail

  26. Okay, wow. This is my favorite guest comic I have ever read for any comic ever. I don't know if it is a reference to something else, but if it is, I don't want to know, because it stands so amazingly well on its own. Time for me to figure out how to stop laughing uncontrollably.

    Pow.

  27. And that is why we never see Marek's eyes. We as mere mortals could not stand the shear awesome power of "pow."

  28. See, now, that's a great guest comic: weirdly awesome, disclosing hitherto unseen dimensions of the strip.

  29. Does anyone else imagine a low droning chorus when she reveals Marek's eyes?

    1. Yes yes yes I did

  30. The eyes are the windows to the soul.

  31. wow, just wow… I almost died laughing

  32. So that's what was under there…

    'Pow…'

    *salutes*

  33. Did anyone else notice the window reflection with a sea and mountain/island in the eyes?
