  1. A BS in meme science isn't enough anymore. You need an MSMS.

    1. One of my top 20 favorite degrees.

  2. Took me a second to figure out that's a combination of "photo list" and "articles." Which – I just realized – I look at/read all the time.

  3. "Listicle": I learned a new word today! Thanks Meredith (and Wikipedia)!

  4. A shandy, like a Tristram Shandy? Do you have to recite its life history before drinking it?

    1. Nope. Beer for people who don't like beer but are afraid to admit it. Not to be confused with wine coolers, even though they pretty much taste the same http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shandy

  5. I want a bachelor in meme science XDXDXDXDDDD

    1. "It was horrible, officer… seven human heads stacked atop each other, each one frozen in a horrible grimace. And the lowest three on the pile had their eyes gouged out for some reason."

      1. It's the Human Centipede in ASCII format

  6. first!!! 😀 omg!! this is my first time i leave a comment and i just wanna say that i love your comic and all the characters and your drawing is so beautyful!!

  7. Alt text is back!? Alt text is back!!!

  8. Oh man, is meme science a thing?

    1. Why yes, it is! And it's all Dawkins' fault, would you believe:

      1. That's not so much science as 'science', possibly even ''''''science''''''.
More accurately, metaphysics by people who don't want to admit it.

    2. Yes, it's called memetics (pronounced like genetics). Basically Darwinism as applied to ideas.

  9. "My parents may not get me now, but one day, they will accidentally click on a misleading link in their google ads, and then out of bored curiosity they will click through the photo slideshow that appears on a crappy flash navigator. And by the time they get to the advertisement that's always on the final slide instead of another photo, they will see my last name in a greyscale 4-point font on the lower-left-hand corner of the navigator. Their eyes will grow misty. At last, they will understand."

  10. lolcats is about to be inundated.

  11. Wait, you can get a bachelor in that? What the hell have I been doing with my life?! D:

  12. Just realised we haven't seen the Photographer's face properly yet?

    1. I noticed that too. It may or may not be significant.

  13. Hello Meredith, just wanted to say that I'm a new fan that recently fell in love with this comic. A Friend of mine told me about it a month ago and what I've read has been a joy. Octopus pie is nothing short of marvelous. I missed you at CAKE this week but next time you come to the Great Lakes area I'm going to come and give you some money in exchange for some major swag.

  14. Listicle guy is blatantly the Peter Parker of this comic.

    1. Aspiring listicler Peter Parker and Asian Clark Kent, the crossover superhero alter-ego news team of the century.

  15. Panel 2, speaking of existential grief faces.

  16. "His dream is to make photo listicles. But…"

Okay, so I'm guessing that Buzzfeed and Huffpo never existed or were shut down by the reptile overlords in the OctoPie alt-universe?

    1. I'm sure they exist, it's just that they have the photo listicle market cornered and it's tough for new blood to get a handhold.

  17. the whole truth about the modern web.

  18. What cat actually ALLOWS pictures to be taken of them?
    I call farce! FARCE!!!!

  19. I know this comic came out *checks* 302 weeks ago, but how come nobody commented on the genius of 'listicles' in the same panel as the cat licking its nuts.

  20. Top twenty!
