If memory serves, Gran was away from her Cintiq at the time and decided to start drawing the story with pens, so she wouldn’t miss an update. She liked the look so much that she kept drawing by hand, drawing the entire story with pens and switching to brushes for the next storyline. Octopus PIe is a really great primer in the merits of various drawing utensils, from digital to pen to brush. You get to see how the different media affect a single drawing style.
